What Role Can Technology Play in Enhancing NGOs’ Fundraising Efforts in 2026?
Question submitted by: Jackson Jale, AgriHope International Uganda, Uganda
Technology is changing fundraising, but not in the way many people think. The greatest opportunity is not simply automating fundraising tasks; it is helping organisations become more visible, efficient and connected.
Artificial Intelligence can help NGOs draft proposals, analyse donor trends, improve communications and create compelling content more quickly. Customer relationship management systems can help organisations track supporters and strengthen donor relationships. Digital platforms make it easier to tell stories, demonstrate impact and engage supporters across geographical boundaries.
However, technology should be viewed as an enabler rather than a solution in itself. Donors still fund people and organisations they trust. Relationships, credibility and impact remain at the heart of successful fundraising. The organisations that will benefit most from technology in 2026 will be those that use it to strengthen human relationships, improve organisational effectiveness and communicate their value more clearly.
Technology is reducing barriers to access, but it is also increasing competition. NGOs that embrace technology strategically will be better positioned to stand out, build trust and access opportunities.
